The decision to replace Benny Moss as UNCW men's basketball coach has been the buzz today at on campus and around the Port City.
Students and alumni say they're sad to see Moss go, but they're ready to start winning some games.
"I thought he was a good coach, but sometimes changes need to be made," said Jacob Drahos, who worked with the basketball team as a student athletic trainer. "Obviously our program's not doing very well right now."
"I think it's unfortunate," student Rob Peay. "He was a really nice guy and he really cared about his players and other people."
Sam Shelby has been going to the games since he graduated from UNCW in 1993.
"I've had season tickets with six or seven folks for the last seven years," he said. "We're die-hard fans. We're here almost every game, and we've been here for tough losses and we've been here through some big wins, and no matter who's coaching we're going to be here."
When the school fired Moss, the day before the homecoming game, has a lot of people talking.
"It kinda puts a sour damper on homecoming," Peay said.
"They probably should've let him stick it out until the end of the season," Drahos said.
