The father of a Camp Lejeune Marine accused of murder says his son is innocent.
Corporal John Wimunc remains jailed without bond. He is accused of murdering his wife Army lieutenant Holley Wimunc, setting her apartment on fire and getting rid of her body in Onslow County.
Florian Wimunc says his son is a good Marine who loves God, his country and his family.
Mr. Wimunc said, "We can't believe that in one moment we have lost our daughter-in-law and now as parents we have lost physical contact with our son. In Johnny's time of grief, all we want to do as parents is just hug him. Johnny is a loving big hearted, person. Johnny considers everyone a friend, constantly thriving for their safety and happiness. Johnny maintains his innocence and we back him 100 percent."
Neither the Wimuncs nor their attorney would comment specifically on the case or the charges.
Fellow Marine Kyle Alden is also facing charges in connection with the arson and murder.
