Federal prosecutors have indicted one of the two men accused in the slaying of UNC Student Body President Eve Carson.

A federal grand jury returned an indictment yesterday against 22-year-old Demario Atwater. The indictment on a charge of carjacking resulting in death could allow federal authorities to seek a death sentence.

State prosecutors had already charged Atwater with murder in the March 5th death of 22-year-old Eve Carson.

17-year-old Laurence Lovette is also charged in state court. He cannot be sentenced to death because the crime was committed before he turned 18.

Only a sick amimal could do such a thing

The death penalty would be too good for this low life!!!!!!!!

Do the time

Not elible for the Death Penalty because he had not yet attained the age of 18? I am sorry, but they should treat each case individually and allow a panel of experts determine if this 17 year old meets the criteria on adulthood. My guesses are that this detriment to society would make the grade as an adult.

The death penalty is a joke to these slime bags because it is not implemented enough. With DNA evidence now....there should never be a reason to wrongly execute someone.
