Old Glory is proudly flying once again outside the Winnabow Volunteer Fire Department.
The North Brunswick Chamber of Commerce presented the fire department with a brand new flag and flag pole Tuesday night. A storm damaged the department's previous flag and pole, and there's no room in its budget to buy new ones. The chamber of commerce donated the new additions.
"It means a lot to the department and I think it means a lot to the community,” said Stan McElroy of the Winnabow Volunteer Fire Department. “The Wilmington area, obviously with the military background nearby, it just shows the patriotism."
Terry Grillo of North Brunswick Chamber of Commerce said, "We try to do whatever we can within our community and we just felt that this was something that would be a good thing for us to be able to do."
The North Brunswick High School Junior ROTC Color Guard raised the flag at Tuesday night's ceremony.
