LELAND -- A consumer alert tonight: a growing number of people tell us they've been scammed by a local flooring company. This story had not even aired yet and we were already getting numerous calls into the newsroom about the man being investigated. Subcontractor Raheem Sneed said, "Doug's a criminal really." Sneed says Doug Duboise didn't pay him for a subcontracting job he did for "All About Flooring." "I put out flyers," Sneed said. "To stop people from going there, you know how Kitchen Cops gives a grade of the restaurants, I was giving a grade of this business and how he stole people's money, everybody's." Upset customer Chuck Hamilton said, "We lost $1,850." Hamilton says last month he hired Duboise to put hardwood floors in his home. Hamilton says Duboise cashed his check but never did the job. Hamilton said, "We called many times, never got a response, I talked to him one time and he hung up on me." Hamilton says his wife stopped by the Leland store Duboise co-owned to try and find out what was going on. "When she got to the store it was completely cleared out, nothing in the store," Hamilton said. Leland Police are investigating Duboise and whether he ripped off his customers. Hamilton said, "It just makes me very angry. He's a thief. When you steal something from somebody, you don't have any other option but to take them to court and that process is long and tedious and it takes more of my money." The federal government says All About Flooring has not filed for bankruptcy, meaning Duboise could face criminal charges. Duboise was charged late last month for allegedly cashing fraudulent traveler's checks. Sneed sued Duboise and won but still has not seen any of the money he's owed. The Hamiltons say they will most likely have to take Duboise to civil court. The co-owner of All About Flooring is currently involved in a lawsuit with Duboise regarding business finances. We left messages for Doug Duboise but have not gotten a call back.
