There is new information on the body found early Tuesday morning, near the Holden Beach Pier. Forty-three-year old Ohio resident, Daniel Anderson, was found dead around 6:00 a.m. Tuesday, laying face-down on the beach. Autopsy results show Anderson died from a single, self inflicted gun shot wound to the head. Police will continue to use metal detectors to look for the weapon in the sand. They will begin using dive teams and underwater detectors in case it was washed out to sea.

Question

If there is no weapon how do they know it was a suicide?

Update?

Has there been any update on this? Did they find a gun? If not, it sure seems like there should be a continuing investigation. My condolences to Dan's friends and family.

As a friend of Dan's I feel

As a friend of Dan's I feel a great deal of lose for a kind and generous soul who is know longer with us. I never saw Dan down or troubled and to think he took his own life baffles me. I find it very hard to believe he took his own life!? GFR stays on the body for a while no matter how much you wash it off. I would like to see something disclosed about that but for the privacy of his remaining kin I understand this is not something they disclose. Without there being a weapon it's difficult to believe it was a suicide...espcially knowing Dan's personality.

I knew Dan, too. He was a

I knew Dan, too. He was a good guy, but he kept his feelings incredibly well hidden. Only on the rarest of occasions would he disclose if something was wrong, but by then, he would have moved on to other things. That he committed suicide with nobody knowing he was troubled in no way surprises me, given my experience with him back in the day. I, too, hope he is at peace.

The whole scenario does not

The whole scenario does not make sense. Unless they can find a letter or one shows up in one of his friends mailboxes seems to me that something else happened.

maybe the water washed it

maybe the water washed it away.........maybe there was a witness who wishes not to be recognized................

Dan was a friend of mine.

Dan was a friend of mine. We worked together for 10 years. Everyone here is just shocked and saddened beyond words. He was a wonderfully kind and gentle man. What a waste! Hope you are at peace Dan!!
