Slowest... Service.... Ever
My roommates and I ate here a month ago on a Tuesday afternoon. There was one man already there being served. This was at 11:30 AM. A young man sat us then took his place in the kitchen with two other men. 5 minutes later a woman came to take our drink orders. It was another 5 minutes before she brought them to us as she decided to take care of two new customers who had just walked in. We assumed they were regulars because they did not have to wait for their drinks.
Two of us ordered the 4 course Restaurant Week special while the third ordered a jerk chicken sandwich. It was 15 minutes before the first two courses showed up. Being a professional cook I can tell you there is no excuse whatsoever for this length of time to serve a beef patty that was already cooked in a warmer and some cocoa bread that was also premade. Right away I recognized my beef patty as being the exact same ones I buy at Sam's Club. We shared our food with our other roommate who was still waiting on his sandwich and our drink refills.
Another 10 minutes pass before we get drink refills. Another 5 before all our dinner items come out. The waitress had no clue what the desserts were and forgot to check both times she went back to the kitchen. She seemed to always prioritize whoever walked in last. We noticed the two ladies who came in after us still waiting for their food after 30+ minutes. 15 minutes later we were given our dessert choices. In total we spent over 90 minutes at that restaurant.
Their menu asks you be patient but our experience bordered on lunacy. Cooking premade foods and then asking customers to wait that long is preposterous. The fine dining establishments of the big cities can get away with it because each specialty dish is prepared as it is ordered and they get the food out faster. While everything tasted good and the price was reasonable we will never be back. If you are going to be that slow cooking your dishes you had better be quicker on the drink refills. There is no excuse for poor service and a slow kitchen. The Comfort Zone is not a waste of money but it is a waste of time. Eat here at your own risk.
limited menu selections
The taste and quality of the food was fine. My gripe
was the limited selection on the menu. Hopefully this will
improve.
Jamaica Comfort is great.
If you want authentic Caribean style cooking this is the place. Not too expensive either. If you are adventurous, try the curry goat. It is delicious. Jerk chicken is also top notch. Service is fast and friendly. They also serve beer, which is nice. I highly recommend it.
