Forecasters warn of tornados in NC

READ MORE:
RALEIGH -- Tornado warnings have been issued in northeastern and south-central parts of North Carolina as a storm system brought wind and rain to the state. A tornado warning was issued for parts of Camden, Currituck an Pasquotank counties and parts of Cumberland County. The National Weather Service also issued a tornado watch for more than 50 counties from the coast to the Charlotte area until around 9 p.m. Thursday. Flood watches were in effect for much of North Carolina for up to 3 inches of rainfall in some areas. The weather service said as the storm system moves out, colder air will move in and produce snow late Thursday and early Friday in the mountains. Accumulations of a half inch of snow in valleys and up to 2 inches at higher elevations are possible. (Copyright 2008 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.)
