Former Duke lacrosse coach can go forward with libel lawsuit

DURHAM. (AP) -- A judge has allowed former Duke lacrosse coach Mike Pressler to pursue a slander and libel lawsuit against an official at the university. The News & Observer of Raleigh reported that Durham County Superior Court Judge Howard Manning rejected claims Wednesday by Duke University that Pressler had to first go through the school's arbitration process. Pressler's attorneys said he is no longer bound by the terms of his past contracts. Pressler has accused Duke spokesman John Burness of making slanderous, libelous and defamatory remarks about him. Pressler lost his job several weeks after the 2006 party at which a stripper falsely claimed three players raped her. Pressler now coaches lacrosse at Bryant University in Rhode Island and he's written a book about the lacrosse case. --- Information from: The News & Observer, http://www.newsobserver.com (Copyright 2008 by The Associated Press. I can't believe this case is still in the news! The poor girl who WAS raped has suffered enough by being forced to relive this every time the media has a development. The rich WASP's up there at duke get off no strings attached and become some wealthy sob's in the future and the coach who led the group and is supposed to be their guide and mentor gets another job and a book deal. WTF!
did you not follow this case at all? not one single shred of evidence points to any claims these strippers made. in fact, the other girl ended up saying her friend made up the story for attention and money. try aiming those bunny ears a bit more towards the station, the picture might come in better.
Let's see... Semen from multiple men in her panties - none from Duke lacrosse players. Out dancing for profit. Sounds more like a hooker than a rape victim. It's the lacrosse players and the coach that got screwed - from the rush to judgement without proper investigation.
