Former Holden Beach officer arrested on brutality charge

Has anyone heard what is going on with this? It sure got hush hush..makes you wonder.

I don't know all of the facts here, the same as the rest of you. I can only say that police officers have to go through an awful lot every day to do their jobs. They never know what is behind those tinted windows when they pull a car over in the wee hours of the morning, is it a shotgun pointed at them, a knife, 4 willing to jump out and assault? They never know....They never know what they will encounter when they answer a domestic violence call, each county 911 only receives about 200-300 of those calls per night. The police are under a tremendous amount of constant pressure, not to even mention changing shifts every 28 days or so and having to constantly adjust their sleeping patterns. I'm not trying to justify police brutality by any means, I'm only saying that if I had to deal with the total a-holes the police have to, I wouldn't last a day. I wish good luck to this officer, hope that he used appropriate judgement and can continue his work. I'm not a criminal, but my experience has shown me that unless you give an officer a big reason, they will not resort to force of any kind.

I would like to know what "King" was in the backseat for to begin with... he may just deserve what he got!!

Well, I guess his arrest says it all! Believe me, no district attorney is going to put his political ambitons on the line for anyone without having evidence...they probably have statements from the other officers by now. There is a former bad cop named Robert Davis who wrote a book called COP OUT. His web site is www.authorsden.com/copout. This guy "outs" all bad cops. He tells about all their dirty secrets. He only speaks about BAD cops so those who are respectors of good cops don't worry. Matter of fact, we should all be haters of bad cops,right?

Brannon will get his day in court. I hope based on what I know and heard he will be found not guilty and come out of this with a lesson learned. I cant help but think there is some sort of a witch hunt going on, maby not but something smells fishy. With so many other officers present that night, one would think if Brannon was using excessive force they would have jumped in and prevented it. If it ends up Brannon is found guilty of it, the other officers involved deserve punishment for imappropriate action. And on a side note, I seen in the paper this week that the Town officials commented on this matter stating embarassment and damage to reputations...Based on that comment, I think the PD needs a cleaning up. I personally observed another PD officer act inappropriate on a number of occasions. He is a veteran officer and knows better. So, lets look at and remedy the underlying issues at the PD. Maby Brannon learned bad things from the other officers.

How can any of you support what this Officer did to a human being. All of you need help.

I am truly ticked off now. I have had as much as I can take. Please forgive me as I step on some toes. I wish everyone would not jump to conclusions until you have all your facts straight. First, I have know "Brannon" for years and I would like to say that he is not the type to beat someone to the point that they need medical treatment. I think there needs to be more investigating done before everyone makes a big mistake. I feel so sorry for Brannon and his family. May God be with them through this hard time.

It is a shame to see Mr. Gray's career go down the drain due to a bad decision. He is a nice young man who made a bad decision as we all have done at least once in our life. Anybody can get caught up in a moment and let their actions run wild. It's also a shame that people who serve the community never get the support they truly deserve (especially in a situation like this). Yet when the people of the community are in trouble they expect those who protect and serve to come running to their rescue!! I'm not sure if Mr. Gray is innocent or guilty but either way I stand by him and those who protect and serve our community 100%.

What a shame that the Southern Officers do not receive the proper training. When an officer has to read just a prisoners cuffs, then he should have other officers assist him and then a report should be written if a prisoner attempts to fight or do something to the arresting officer. If his cuffs were placed on his wrists and was in the proper behind the back position then this could of been avoided.I am not going to second guess the officer but I question the training of all officers involved?? If the news is going to print a story then give the full account, and not pieces to get papers sold. The officers who reported the incident should not guess but use set policy and programs of adjusting prisoners cuffs. A little more policy, program and procedue would go a long way in training and removing all doubt of practice.Each Department should have a set time for retraining on Department policies, programs and procedures. If department don't have set rules written down then its time the leader of the Department, gets them ,and then sees that his supervisors enfore them. I speak with experience as a former officer and 25 years of training officers and supervisors in the academys and colleges.

In this situation he may or may not be guilty however, I was personally harassed and also another person I know was harassed by this officer. So, whether he is guilty or not he deserves what he is getting.

Malicious Conduct by a prisoner is a felony. I hope they also charge him with resist and assault on LEO. They should throw the book at King. What a waste of life. And now he is trying to take away someone else's life

A power obsessed cop crosses the line.

Once again the press has printed or released information without researching the entire story. I believe you'll find that Mr.Gray was actually rendering aid to another officer who had stopped at a local buisness to make adjustments to Mr.Kings handcuffs. Ask yourselves this if that much of the story is already false this early in the going, how much more should we actually believe?
