Fayetteville now has about 30,000 more residents after yesterday's official announcement that the city is annexing Fort Bragg.
Fort Bragg officials gave their blessing to the change over the weekend.
In July, legislators passed a bill extending Fayetteville's city limits over most of the base. The bill said the annexation would take effect September 1st, but city officials waited until Fort Bragg brass agreed before announcing the change was a done deal.

Everyone appears happy with this annexation, which is a good thing, because these new residents could really put up a fight. Annexing a military base has to also be unusual. Yet what is more unusual is the fact that those concerned seem pleased with the action.
