Fort Bragg-based soldier killed in Baghdad


FORT BRAGG, N.C. (AP) -- Military officials say a soldier based at Fort Bragg was killed this week while on patrol in Iraq this week.

Sergeant Ronald A. Coffelt of Fair Oaks, California, died Thursday in Baghdad after suffering wounds from an improvised explosive device that went off during combat operations.

Coffelt was assigned to the 118th Military Police Company, 503rd Military Police Battalion, 16th Military Police Brigade based at Fort Bragg.

A memorial service will be held for Coffelt Tuesday afternoon at the post chapel.
