Freddie Jackson headlines local contingent of signees on national letter of intent day

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) - New Hanover guard Freddie Jackson made it official on Wednesday. He signed with UNC Wilmington on Wednesday. After signing his national letter of intent Jackson told WWAY that he's been looking forward to this day since his middle school days at Williston. Jackson admitted that he didn't think he would have the chance to play college basketball, but he always wanted to strive for it. Kirk Angel is Jackson's high school coach. Angel says Jackson is a 6'3" point guard with a 6'8" wing span. Angel added that Jackson has leadership skills and lots of court vision and savvy.

The Coach's Corner will feature interviews with every student athlete listed above. The Coach's Corner will air Sunday at 6pm on WWAY.

Two Ashley seniors are slated to sign on Friday to play college lacrosse. Jay Desnoyers will sign with Bellarmine. Greyson LeCompte will sign with Jacksonville.
