Free markets help in tough economy

Most people have heard of flea markets, but what about free markets?

The "Really, Really Free Market" took place yesterday in Downtown Wilmington. Everyone is welcome, and as the name suggests, everything is free. People can bring anything from material items to skills or talents.

The market runs from noon until 2:30 p.m. on the first Sunday of every month. With the economy down, people think events like this just make sense.

"I think it is a great idea," Kelly Butler of Wilmington said. "I think that there are so many people that need to get rid of stuff and so many people that need things. In this economy I think it's really great."

Organizers of the market encourage even those with nothing to bring to stop by. It's all about bringing the community together and helping each other. For more information on the free markets and where they will be held in the future
