Front Street traffic lights to be permanently removed

READ MORE:
TRAFFIC300.jpg
For the past month and a half, you might have noticed a change on Front Street. Workers covered the traffic lights, and added temporary four-way stop signs. This week, those traffic lights are going away for good. City leaders found no problems with the lack of lights and say replacing the lights with stop signs is the first step in the North Front Street improvement project, designed to make the street more pedestrian friendly.

Front Street Stop Signs

How asinine! If stops signs improve things, then why not take down the street lights at all intersections. That should help the corner of Market and Front tremendously. I can see that making that corner pedesterian friendly...because all vehicle traffic would be at a pile. Our city leaders(?) at work again!?!?!?

How are stop signs more Pedestrian Friendly?

Have the powers that be not noticed how many people have been hit by cars since the stop lights were taken out of service? How does one suppose that a stop sign rather than a stop light along with cross walk lights, assist pedestrians?!?! No body stops for the stop signs much less watches for a human crossing the street!

We are too heavily populated of an area to rely on stop signs to control auto and pedestrian traffic. Therefore it gets very confusing for pedestrians as well as drivers. Who should go and whose turn is it. I am so glad we have a brain trust making these decisions.

Then the first step is the

Then the first step is the wrong step!! Yet again trying to fix something that isn't broken. So stupid!
