RALEIGH, N.C. -- A national manufacturer of residential upholstered furniture has announced plans to open a third plant in North Carolina.
Gov. Beverly Perdue's office announced on Friday that United Furniture Industries NC LLC will open a plant in the vacant Stanley Furniture distribution facility in Lexington. It would create 150 jobs and invest more than $3.3 million during the next three years.
The move is possible in part through a $125,000 grant from the One North Carolina Fund.
United Furniture Industries NC is a wholly owned subsidiary of United Furniture Industries Inc., of Okolona, Miss. Its other North Carolina plants in Archdale and High Point employ about 400 people.
The new positions will pay an average annual wage of $29,032, not including benefits. That's comparable to the Davidson County average of $29,640.
