Gas prices up over last week

North Carolina - Average retail gasoline prices in North Carolina have risen 3.2 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $2.81/g yesterday. This compares with the national average that has increased 4.1 cents per gallon in the last week to $2.90/g, according to gasoline price website NorthCarolinaGasPrices.com.

Including the change in gas prices in North Carolina during the past week, prices yesterday were 82.0 cents per gallon higher than the same day one year ago and are 5.7 cents per gallon higher than a month ago. The national average has increased 7.9 cents per gallon during the last month and stands 84.3 cents per gallon higher than this day a year ago.

Just wait a week or so. The oil spill in the Gulf will be used as an excuse to raise prices, as well as BP passing along costs of cleanup to customers. We, the consumer, will be the one to get the shaft, as usual.
