Gas taxes in the Tar Heel state are one step closer to climbing rather than dropping. Wednesday, the House Finance Committee voted to making the current gas tax limit of 29.9 cents per gallon the minimum. Without the change, the tax was expected to fall to 28 cents on July 1st.

The tax is adjusted twice a year based on wholesale prices.

The measure now heads to the full House. It has already been approved by the Senate.

Education Lottery money, raided. Highway Trust Fund, raided. Tobacco settlement, raided. Bailout (your money), gone where exactly? Change you can believe in?

Oh, I'm sorry Beverley Perdue, It's all George W. Bush's fault. Thanks for looking out for...Ummm...
