WILMINGTON -- More than two months into hurricane season and employees at General Electric in Wilmington are still stressing preparedness. A company spokesperson says lots of new hires mean people who've never been through hurricane season before. Employees at the GE plant put together the expo. Representatives from New Hanover County and the Red Cross were there to let people what they know in case a storm hits. New employees say the event is helpful in keeping them safe. This is GE employee Jane Cooper's first hurricane season. She said, "Even if a storm doesn't come through we will have peace of mind knowing that if we do, we're prepared for them either way." The expo was not only about personal preparedness, but also GE's plan to keep employees safe in the event of a hurricane.
