BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) -- Looking to get more bang for your buck? With money tight these days Coupon 101 taught locals the tips and secrets to saving money.

There's actually a class that shows people how they cut back on their money spending by cutting around the dotted lines.

Resea Willis is a money saver and teaches Coupon 101. "If it's ten cents I'd rather the dime be in my pocket than in theirs," said Willis. "Oh I think of all times in these economic hard times it is critical to save any way you can."

The students in the class were all about stretching the dollar. With the help of Coupon 101 all you need is a pair of scissors and a good eye. Many say clipping coupons is time consuming but a good consumer can maximize their savings.

"For the amount of money you save it's worth it," said Marjorie Hansley, who uses coupons. "It's well worth couponing and saving."

Whether you're shopping for groceries, clothes or appliances many say clipping coupons is an art. The only way to really cash in is to master the art. Mastering couponing means stacking your coupons, organizing your coupons in binders, learning store policies and using coupon lingo.

Consumers shouldn't rely just on newspapers for the deals. Electronic coupons make it easy for buyers to surf the web and print their coupons with a click of a mouse.

The students say a real money saver stays organized and never leaves the house without a coupon in hand.

"Actually I always take my coupons with me," said Hansley. "I mean anywhere I go they go."

Coupon 101 also suggests buying in bulk especially when things go on sale. They say savings come and go about every two weeks. If there's a product that you use a lot of it's probably in your best interest to stock up on it.

The class is great! I have learned so much from the teachings of Mrs. Willis and Mrs. Hansley. Thanks for teaching us how to save money at the grocery store.
