Greek Festival enjoyed by Wilmingtonians

Wilmington has gone Greek. Saint Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church is hosting its Fifteenth Annual Greek Festival this weekend. Less than one percent of Wilmington’s population is of Greek decent, and the event is intended to celebrate and share Greek history and culture with the community. There was plenty of music, dancing, and of course, great things to eat. ”It’s called a gyro. It's chicken cheese and anything you pretty much want in it,” explained Turner Rodgers. The Greek Festival began Friday and runs through Sunday. About 20,000 people are expected to attend.

It has

It has become way too overpriced. There were no "kid sized" provisions last year and with four children it is impossible to justify affording $48 for food only. It used to be affordable and more festive. Like everything else these days it's gone commercial...

I love Greek Festivals!

Absolutely love them. Went to one this weekend and there was a vendor from Simply Greek Foods ( They were selling Greek seasonings and rubs for everything from lamb, souvlaki and gyros!!! Now I can make gyros at home! It's going to be a great summer.
