Group says cuts alone to NC budget would devastate

READ MORE:
RALEIGH -- More than 80 nonprofit organizations and service providers want North Carolina lawmakers to raise additional revenue to ease the pain of potential budget cuts the next two years. The coalition called "Together NC" scheduled a news conference Tuesday in front of the Legislative Building as House members move closer to assembling a state government spending plan. House budget-writers are looking at cuts deeper than the Senate and Gov. Beverly Perdue offered in their spending proposals because state revenues have dropped dramatically in recent months. The budget gap for next year is at least $1.5 billion wider. Together NC says closing that gap with spending cuts only would hurt low-income families and that a tax increase would protect them. Forty years ago this group

Forty years ago this group would have had to express their views from the other side of the stone wall. The power to tax is the power to destroy. Before people allow their own destruction, they will move.

"Together," unless you can manage your own life

"Together NC says closing that gap with spending cuts only would hurt low-income families and that a tax increase would protect them." In other words, take the money away from those who earned it and give it to those who neither worked for it nor have any claim to it? Truth be told, Together NC could care less about low income families. They're afraid that if all the nonsensical, ineffective social programs are cut, they'll have to find REAL jobs!

When you take earnings from

When you take earnings from one and give to another that you feel is more worthy, whatever the reason, it is theft. If you are a thug with a gun, a burglar with a crowbar, or a politician with a pen, you're still just a thief.

re: together NC

Commonsense, I agree with you 100%. I went to their web site and checked out the 60 groups behind this. I noticed Acorn was one of the groups as well as other liberal organizations. It's the spread the wealth mentality...nothing but takers...never giving back to society in these groups. Acorn is under investigation and is refusing to open their books so tax payers can see what their money is being spent on and who is benefiting from our tax dollars. If they had low-income people's interest at heart, they would be proud to let us know who is getting the money. I don't think these groups should get one more dime of tax payers dollars until we get the books open. It is our money and we have a right to know.

You know it

You know a tax increase would help those that don't pay into the system. They don't own property, don't have jobs and live off the taxpayer’s dime. Only makes sense to give them more. Now back to work, millions on welfare are depending on you.
