Half of runs at Southport-Fort Fisher Ferry temporarily suspended

The N.C. Department of Transportation’s Ferry Division suspended half the runs at the Southport-Ft. Fisher route Monday, due to a minor oil leak in the engine system of the Motor Vessel Southport. The amended schedule will last until mechanics fix the problem or a replacement vessel can be sent to the terminal, which may take several days. The schedule will be as follows: * From Southport, departure times are 5:30 a.m., 7, 8:30, 11:30, 1 p.m., 2:30, 4:45 and 6:15. * Departing from Fort Fisher, the times are 6:15 a.m., 7:45, 9:15, 12:15 p.m., 1:45, 3:15, 5:30 and 7. Wow, over the summer, you may as well just get in your car and drive the long way around to Southport. Last time I rode the ferry was a year or two ago and the line was horrible. They've already cut the runs in half, and now this. No point in even driving down to Ft. Fisher now to take the ferry...

If they're taking the time

If they're taking the time out to fix the ferry to make the travel safe for the passengers, then I have no problem waiting. Safety is never an inconvenience.
