Hampstead boaters to get ramp of their own

After many long trips to Surf City and Wrightsville Beach just to put their boat in the water, residents in the Hampstead area now have a boat ramp of their own. Pender County is in the process of purchasing this boat ramp off Lewis Road for about $4 million. It's six acres, and includes a boat ramp, waterfront benches, and parking. County commissioners hope to close on the acquisition in February.

2 existing boat ramps off Highway 53 and 1 off Highway 210, how can the County Commissioners in their right minds approve this type of outlay in our current economic situation? Remember this when voting.
