Hampstead teen still missing

READ MORE:
Authorities are still looking for a 17-year-old Hampstead girl who went missing on New Year's Eve. Family members say Ashley Marie Ryan, a senior at Topsail High School, went to the movies with friends at Mayfaire cinema and walked out the back door of the theatre. They say she then went to a pawn shop to trade in an iPod she got for Christmas. She used the money to buy a bus ticket to Kissimmee, Florida, just outside of Orlando. A spokesperson for the Wilmington Police Department said Ryan is most likely a runaway. Her parents have gone down to Florida to try to find her. In the meantime, family members here are devastated. "Ashley is seventeen. She's naive. She's a sweet little girl and we just want our kid back," said Pamela Richardson, Ashley's Aunt. "She's just a kid. She's just a little girl. And we want her home. We want to get her where we can help her." Anyone with information on Ashley's whereabouts should contact the Wilmington Police Department at 343-3600.

Ashley Ryan FOUND

Ashley was located in Key West and we brought her home Sunday. I think she's glad to be back! Thanks to everyone in the community and our family and friends for all your prayers and assistance and thanks WWAY!

Now she needs to be disciplined

Now that she is home, she needs to be grounded. She needs to be taught that she can't do whatever she wants without facing the consequences afterwards. She needs to be taught a lesson

ahsley

YES!!!! ASHLEY CAME HOME YOOOO HOOOOO

I am praying for Ashley a

I am praying for Ashley a safe return home. I can not imgaine what the family is going through.

Ashley

It is so funny that today we are ready to condemn a young lady that just the other day we felt needed our help. We are so quick to jump from one side to the other when we have no right to even have a side. We don’t have the knowledge or experience to make an educated decision. To those of you who are ready to run this young lady up the flag pole or are ready to through her to the dogs, I hope you are never in a situation where you need help and no one knows or cares or helps. Because if you are, your comments and thoughts will be a cold reality. Why are we so ready to condemn a person knowing nothing about their situation. Her actions were of someone who need help was crying for help, where were her friends, her family and any body else that claimed to be someone in her life. Sometimes we, you, her -- feel the only solution is to run. Some of us run to alchol, drugs or away. Some of us if we are lucky can run to a friend or our family. We need as another has said to keep her in our prayers and to keep ourselves in our prayers so that we never end up in a situation that would make us feel the way she must have felt or be feeling. I hope, as a father, that she finds what she needs to get help. She is a talented student and a hard working friend. When you say your prayers tonight say one for Ashley and others in your school that may be in a similar place.

Why not???

It looks like everyone was willing to jump and help her....but it's her actions that caused the reactions of everyone. I said from the beginning that something wasn't right about this incident...and now we have it. I wonder how many extra hours LEO and volunteers put in to find someone that just felt like running away?

Go Figure

Looks like she wasn't taken. I found it strange that she would go to the movies with friends and then see a different movie than her friends. That just didn't make a lot of sense. I guess now we know why she went to see a different movie. I hope she is enjoying herself in Florida while her family and friends up here are suffering

As a father of two my heart

As a father of two my heart goes out to this family, hopefully they will soon see the safe return of their little girl.

ashley

I am sure you all have checked her computer for anything that may lead you to see if she has met someone online and gone to meet them. I HOPE you all find her soon. Poor thing.

Ashley

Thank you Hampstead and Wilmington for all your prayers, and thank you WWAY for your accurate reporting. We received calls today that she was reported found, but sadly that is not true. Please continue your prayers and good thoughts for Ashley. Yes, we checked her computer. She is traveling alone.
