CHAPEL HILL (AP) -- A judge in Chapel Hill has delayed a hearing on whether a suspect should face a death sentence in the killing of University of North Carolina student body president Eve Carson.
The News & Observer of Raleigh reports Superior Court Judge Donald Stephens postponed the hearing for Demario Atwater on Monday because the search warrants and autopsy report would have been discussed.
The search warrants and autopsy report have been sealed and Stephens says it would be in the interest of justice to keep the information secret for now.
The hearing has been rescheduled for the week of July 7.
Carson's body was found in a wooded neighborhood near the campus early on March 5.
Atwater and Laurence Alvin Lovette are charged with shooting her to death.
