WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- This area has always been known for helping people in need. Yesterday you proved it once again.
WWAY partnered with 103.7 The Bone and Krispy Kreme for Help for the Holidays, our one-day blitz to restock the Salvation Army's food pantry.
With your help we doubled last year's amount by collecting 6,815 pounds of food. You also opened your wallets and stuffed a red kettle with $1,139.23.
Thanks to everyone who came out and helped for the holidays.

Funny, I have been homeless
Funny, I have been homeless myself a few times due to the economy and NEVER have I or my family EVER been given help by ANYONE in Wilmington NC! This is coming from someone who has even gone to churches in the area and had them laugh in my face and shove me out the door! Funny thing about people who work a low paying job and have a family to support, no one will help not dss, not salvation, army not even churches! Funny thing about this area if you don't go to a church you aren't likely to be helped at all!!!
