With help from Edwin McCain, NHRMC will get mobile pediatric ICU

New Hanover Regional is getting a much needed mobile pediatric intensive care unit, thanks in part to singer-songwriter Edwin McCain. Saturday night, McCain, along with the Wilmington Symphony Orchestra, performed in front of a sold out crowd at UNCW's Kenan Auditorium. Rudi Schlegel, from the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, was the guest conductor. The concert, along with a grant from the Eshelman Foundation, raised enough money for the hospital to buy the mobile pediatric ICU.

Edwin and his goodwill

Edwin Mccain is probably the most humble person I have ever known. He has done so many nice things for people in his community that nobody even knows about… because he is thoughtful, and caring about people and his community. Shame on you taking an article THANKING such a great guy and turning it into something negative.

Hospital can't buy their own?

With all of the money that the hospital makes, they can't buy their own ambulance? I was charged $6600 per day for the birth of my son by the hospital alone (not including doctor delivery charges and NICU people charges-who spent 15 minutes with him). Where does all of this money go? Don't get me wrong, I'm happy to have this piece of equipment for the area, but my problem is having the residents pay for it when the hospital system has the money.

Don't forget that the high-up administrators and decision makers have to be paid hundreds of thousands of dollars a year to have mixed drinks with clients, play golf, spend the night in motels, sign their names on paper a few times a week, and eat gourmet foods in cities all over the nation. This is a very stressful and difficult job which requires a great deal of money!!!!
