Highway patrol increases manpower during holiday season

Driving anywhere this Christmas? The highway patrol wants you to get there safely, and will be beefing up patrols to keep a watchful eye.

Trooper John King warns that one bad decision can ruin your holiday.

Over Christmas and New Year’s, the highway patrol increases manpower by about ten to fifteen percent; this means more checkpoints and more of a chance of getting caught if you don't follow the rules of the road.

King said, “Highway patrol is going to be targeting aggressive drivers we'll be targeting drunk drivers. If you're going to drink and drive during the holiday season we suggest you find a designated driver.”

Trooper King said even though the holidays are supposed to be relaxing, driving can be hectic. He recommends remaining calm behind the wheel and not getting too aggressive.
