Carrie Walker has seen a lot in her 108 years, but what she will tell you is that she is excited about this historic presidential election. Walker was born in 1900 and lived during a time when our country was divided among both sexes and races. She was 20 years old when women were finally given the right to vote. Carrie’s great nephew, Leon Bellamy said, “She said back during the years she wasn't allowed to vote, and she never thought that she would see the day to vote for a black president. She is just happy and thrilled about it and I'm happy about it also.” The family gathered at the Pender County Board of Elections Offices in Burgaw. Her family, all decked out in Obama clothing, was proud to see Walker have a say in the election. “It's even more of an honor to have a grandmother that's 108, that instilled in us in a huge democratic household to be heard to speak out and to vote,” said Walker’s granddaughter, Delores Jacobs. With a little help she voted. Corine White, Carrie’s niece said, “We might not see this day anymore. This is history for everyone.” Carrie Walker said she makes it a point to vote in every election.

@ ALL OF YOU WHO THINK THIS WOMAN IS VOTING BASED ON RACE: What is wrong with you? Honestly, most people in this town voting for McCain are voting based on race. I mean, let's be honest. Don't say it out loud. Pretend you are voting based on the issues. Most of you aren't voting because of what McCain is, but because of what you think Obama is. You know the ads that say "Buzzed driving is still drunk driving?" Well closet racism is still racism, and accusing this fine lady of this is more of a reflection on you and your problems than it is on her. PS, Global Warming is not real? Really? Did Bigfoot tell you that? Why don't you let the grown-ups handle the politics and saving the planet, and you go pout until you figure out we were right all along, then not thank us for it.

They are just pouting because Obama is still winning in the polls. It will be over soon....then they can blame every single thing that is wrong in their miserable little lives on President Obama. Look McCain sheep, he pretty much screwed himself picking Mrs. Sarah Winky for VP. BIG mistake & his mistake, if he can make such a HUGE ERROR in that pick imagine what he would do as President. you better go back and check the polls. The latest AP poll has them virtually neck to neck. People are finally waking up and realize Senator Obama is similar to Fidel Castro in many ways. If he is elected, the only ones who will see their economic condition improve will be those already on welfare and entitlement programs. Those of us who work hard for a living or have created some net worth will see it being ravaged. If Obama is elected, you can expect personal income taxe rate, if you work, to increase to around 45%. Small businesses, which are the backbone of our economy, will be even more hard pressed to survive. Look for the return of inheritance and estate taxes. Can you read? His top 3 economic advisers are the three guys who ran Fannie Mae into the ground and cost the taxpayers NINE BILLION DOLLARS. They were able to achiec those lofty numbers in just 4 years.

Voting for McCain based on the ISSUES...no matter WHAT Obama-lama-ding-dong sais..he IS going to raise taxes...how quickly we forget that CLINTON said the EXACT same thing...that he wouldn't raise taxes on the middle class...he came back and said..GOSH DARN..we just didn't see a way around it...taxes shot up in one of the largest increases in taxes EVER at that point. Obama is for SOCIALISM...and I ABHOR IT! NOBODY who works for a living should have to pay the way for those that don't! Those that work shouldn't have to SHARE their wealth. What I make, I make because of hard work and dedication...NOBODY deserves a piece of that...NOBODY! On the point of gun control....HE WILL institute gun control! They will have an assault weapons ban...read up on the Second and get back with me on if you feel we don't need assault weapons...based on what the Second allows the citizens to do...we need the ability to rise against the government to toss them out on their rear ends...that means we need the weapons to do that...that assault weapons ban was also just plain out stupid! Global Warming....OK I'll bite. Global Warming IS HAPPENING...no doubt. HOWEVER, there is NO PROOF...absolutely NONE that it is a MAN MADE CAUSE! I am not saying that we don't contribute to it in a VERY MINUSCULE WAY..most of what we see is natural and its a cycle. Remember back ...OMG IT WAS GLOBAL COOLING...we were all going to freeze to death....didn't happen did it? Nope...I'll vote for McCain based on the ISSUES...I'll vote for McCain because I don't want to know what an America with a far left socialist like Obama will be like! HOPEFULLY even if he DOES win...the people will let the Republicans control the Senate or the House to keep him at bay. Everyone run for the hills, be scared, and don't engage in independent thought!!! This rhetoric about Obama as a socialist is laughable, and it goes to show how desperate McCain supporters are becoming. It's sad, really. For those of you who stopped paying attention after 7th grade, Socialism is not the same thing as Communism(see USSR). Socialism says that you can rise as high as you want in society, but that we will create a safety net so you won't fall too low. Communism says we will all be equally destitute. I would encourage you to read a book on economic theory, but you probably don't believe in any other books than the B-I-B-L-E. And sadly, you probably know even less about the writings in the Bible than you do about economics. The Bible has more teachings about taking care of the poor than any other subject. And nowhere is it written "God takes care of those who take care of themselves." If one can take care of his/her self, what does he/she need God's help for? For a nation that claims to be founded "under God" and a God who speaks about taking care of the poor in His Bible, your sentiment about not sharing your wealth, which is echoed by McCain and other Republicans, seems un-American to me. Why are you still here? Go away and let Americans fix this nation. Because real Americans want to help each other, and look out for one another. Real Americans are a part of something bigger than themselves. So if you want to ostracize someone, LOOK in the mirror!

McCain is also ready to get us into a war with Iran, and if you have looked into it, you know it isn't going to be another Iraq. We will die on American soil when Iran fights back. We also need to bring our troops home. Support the troops, bring them home. Obama is ready to do that. McCain will continue to let them die over there. Obama is NOT going to take our guns away. It isn't even possible because of the amendment. He is lowering taxes for us - 95 percent of all taxes (and don't try to tell me that any of you posting here make above 250k a year lol.) Obama was indeed born in the united states. I have seen the newspaper clipping announcing his birth. He is protestant, not a muslim. He is an intelligent man with absolutely NO EVIDENCE of questionable acts in his career. McCain. Even in McCain's most forgiving, unbiased biographies, you can see who the real questionable one is here. He barely graduated college because he was a drunk, and a womanizer. He only graduated because of his father's and grandfather's reputation which was the only thing keeping his head above water period. He was a good soldier in the war, and I'll give him that - but that does not make him intelligent enough to run this country. Also, if you read his biography it becomes very clear why he is running for president. He always had an inferiority complex and this is his way of proving hes just as good as the rest of his family; and hes NOT. He also supported 90 percent of every horrible decision Bush made. His voting record in the senate is 90 percent! He is 90 percent Bush. For those of you saying that Ms. Walker never voted before read the very last sentence! I quote: "Carrie Walker said she makes it a point to vote in every election." As for her voting for Obama solely on the fact that he is black is a) her right and b) again false. The article said that "... she never thought that she would see the day to vote for a black president." there is a difference. She didn't think there would be a day not that that is the only reason as to why she is voting for him. Who knows she may be voting for Obama only because he is black or because she thinks he's the best pick or because he is black and the best choice for her beliefs! All I know is that I think it is wonderful to see someone who as gone from a time of no right to vote to the right to vote and continue to use her right at an age when most people might just decide they're too old to deal with the responsiblity.
