Hobbs' court appearance postponed

Brett Hobbs, a former Leland police officer, was scheduled to appear in Brunswick County Court today, but the appearance was postponed. Hobbs was arrested last month and charged with felony larceny and conspiracy. Hobbs was fired from the Leland P.D. in 2005 when he pleaded guilty to charges of conspiring to traffic cocaine and obstruction of justice. His father, Gordon Hobbs, is a member of the Leland town council.

Hobbs Father

Why is it that everytime you mention anything about Brett Hobbs you have to bring up that is father is a town council member in Leland? What does his father have to do with him? We as parents can't do but so much with our children. We can raise them the right way and then it's up to them. Mr. Hobbs is an outstanding member of our community and shouldn't be mentioned everytime his son is in the news.

People bring up Gordon Hobbs

People bring up Gordon Hobbs because he's relevant to Brett's troubles. It's my understanding that he's used his political influence to get Brett out of legal trouble in the past, and that Brett even got a promotion within the police department while being investigated for wrongdoing. And you call Mr. Hobbs an outstanding member of the community? People like him are use their political power to benefit hemselves and those close to them.
