It may sound unusual, but a Viking officially became a Bear Friday. Hoggard guard Danielle Bongiorno signed a letter of intent to play basketball at Lenoir-Rhyne University next year. Coach Ray Beatty said Bongiorno has the heart of a lion and made his job a lot easier when she was on the court. Bongiorno said her time as a Viking will help her as she moves on to college. “I learned how to be a leader here, I really had to learn how to lead my team and we just all worked together. You know just being a leader on the court and off the court,” said Bongiorno. Last year, Bongiorno helped lead the Vikings to a Mideastern Conference championship with a 25 and 3 record. Bongiorno shared the credit for Friday's accomplishment and said she looking forward to playing on the collegiate level.
