WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- We just wrapped up Halloween and Election Day, but it's already starting to look a lot like Christmas. At least in Downtown Wilmington.

The city sidewalks, busy sidewalks, are already dressed in holiday cheer. Light poles are decorated with Christmas wreaths. Combined with today's cool temperatures, it provided a feeling of the holidays. After all, there are just 51 shopping days left until Christmas.

WAY too early!!!!!

Burgaw has done the same thing! By the time Christmas does come around we will all be sick of it. If someone thinks that rushing the seasons like this is a good thing, I beg to differ. I love Thanksgiving, a very American holiday, when we can relax with family, enjoy a good meal and not feel pressured to buy things.

Can the pre-Memorial Day sales be far behind now?

Christmas decor? Did I miss Thanksgiving?

Geez....did I miss something? I noticed at my local grocer today had a sign posted that said "Christmas trees will be arriving soon!" Is it just me, or are the merchants pushing the holiday a little too much fast forward, even more so than last year?? I'd at least like to enjoy Thanksgiving with family and friends first! I just put the Halloween decorations away! Any other thoughts from folks on this out there?

I'm with you

Halloween stuff starts appearing in early September; Christmas stuff starts appearing in October - you might see a few Thanksgiving things in there somewhere. I'm with you - I love Thanksgiving - a quiet time to reflect on all the blessings we have and a time to enjoy family and friends - except I forgot one thing!!! The Friday after Thanksgiving - where's the hype? Let's stop rushing all the seasons and enjoy them as they come.

Just keep in mind - in a couple of months we will be seeing spring clothese popping out! Life moves too fast as it is - give us time people!!!!

You're right Anne!

I forgot about the day after Thanksgiving.... it's the "gotta hurry and get to the stores early!". Not me! I like to continue Thanksgiving for the entire weekend! The hardcore shoppers can have it!
