House approves economic recovery plan, Bush urges Senate to send bill to his desk

CAPITOL HILL (AP) -- It has made it through the House unscathed. Now, President Bush says he wants to see a $146 billion economic stimulus package "out of the Senate and on" his desk. The bill would speed rebates of $600-$1,200 to anyone with at least $3,000 in income. Families with children would get even more. But after its swift approval in the House, the Senate is sure to prove more of a stumbling block for the legislation. Democrats and some Republicans backed a larger package that adds billions of dollars for senior citizens and the unemployed, and shrinks the rebate to $500 for individuals and $1,000 for couples. Senator Harry Reid says "there's 51 Democratic senators without exception who believe this package can be made better." But House Speaker Nancy Pelosi says she hopes the Senate will take the House bill "and run with it."

By the time this package

By the time this package comes to rest, it will simply be "No Rebate" and our taxes will be higher and higher still. I love the phrase were the President wants this to "Pass Quickly", knowing good and well how slowly our Congress addresses anything. We, as tax payers, will see just how much water the words *Pass Quickly* holds when all is said and done. Your rebate will be cut down to $1.98 and that will be "Gift Taxed" as Adjusted Gross Income in 2009 making the rEbAtE worth -$300.00 :-(

Government Package

If you really want to find out more about this deal that President Bush is wanting to push through go to the web site below. According to the article, illegal immigrants will also be getting a chunck of this money. How do you like knowing your tax dollars are going to support someone here illegally, lets just reward them and encourage more to come on down!

Read the article, it makes one wonder who our government cares about, the legal US citizens or the illegal immigrants.

The Senate package is far better

It provides rebates to far more Americans and requires Social Security Numbers to avoid making payments to illegal aliens. One has to wonder if the latter stipulation is why Bush and the pro-illegal Congress is so all-fired up to get it signed into law.
