Hundreds make push for Kim Munley as Azalea queen

Hundreds of people have joined a push to make Kim Munley this year's Azalea queen. The Carolina Beach native was involved in taking down the Fort Hood gunman. So far, more than 100 people have joined the Facebook group to make Munley queen of the 2010 Azalea Festival. Festival director Erica Mearns said the committee has already extended an invitation for this year's queen. However, Mearns said they are aware of the Facebook group and are considering other ways to honor Munley in this year’s parade.

Every year for the past decade... The Azalea Festival gets B-List celebs to fill in as queen... Why not get someone who is from here that would be more important than a B-List? The last queen I can vividly remember as a big star was the I dream of Genie lady... Most of us don't watch Soaps.. We work for a living.... There are headliners from CSI (a show i don't watch but hear everyone else talking about) or someone like 13 or Cutty from House? Better yet.. How about Nunley? Someone who actually means something to this community.. Az Fest people.. Hear this.. YOU WOULD MAKE MORE PADDING FOR YOUR POCKEST BRINGING SOMEONE HERE THAT YOUR CITIZENS ACTUALLY GAVE A HOOT ABOUT.... Someone like Kim Nunley.... Don't have an ok Festival.. For the first time in a long time.. Make it a GREAT festival! Get celebs here that Wilmingotn actually cares about instead of who your officers want to see...

She can be queen as long as the OTHER PoliceMAN that took down the terrorist with her is KING. She had help.

There were MANY heroes that

There were MANY heroes that day and Kim was one of them. By her hometown honoring her doesn't mean we are paying any less tribute to all of the other people who put their lives in danger that day. I am the one who created the facebook page for Kim. I also suggested we invite her partner Sgt. Todd to the festival and honor him in some way as well.

That would be sweet!! the Azalea committee should invite him also... have the first ever KING!/Queen combo... what a tribute to our real heroes.. let them get the fire boats salute .. and all the glory that they deserve..FORGET HOLLYWOOD... Law enforcement in this area needs a boost in the arm... no one loses.. I cant think of a better salute to all Law enforcement nationwide please make this happen Wilmington
