Water Safety

To treat water, first filter the water using a piece of cloth or coffee filter to remove solid particles.

Bring it to a rolling boil for one full minute and cool for 30 minutes.

To purify water, add 12 drops of 2 percent tincture of iodine per gallon or add 16 drops of liquid chlorine bleach (without added soap or fragrances) per gallon of water.

Let stand for 30 minutes.

If water smells of chlorine, it is safe to drink or add water purification tablets.
