ILM flight increase

READ MORE:
With record-setting numbers last year, Wilmington's International Airport is rapidly becoming the place for frequent fliers. Traveling by plane at times can be a stressful situation, but for many flying through Wilmington International, the travel experience is made much easier. Frequent flier Lani Carpenter says flying through ILM is "convenient, and everyone's nice and security doesn't take long at all." With more flights to more places, and cheaper fares, it's easy to see why business is booming for ILM. So much so that 2007 was a record year for the airport. More than 800-thousand passengers traveled through the airport last year, which is a 25 percent increase over 2006. Airlines like United have seen a steady increase in business for some time now. Vivian Vanove has been a volunteer at ILM for the past four years. She says the benefits of flying out of Wilmington is in the travel experience. "There are more and more people traveling out of Wilmington because it's so convenient, it's a smaller airport, the parking is closer to the building so they don't have a long distance to walk there's no lines at security or the ticket counter, everything is done pretty quickly and there on their way." Airport officials only hope record numbers will continue to lure more airlines and more flights to serve the Wilmington area.

Myrtle Beach airport

I agree. If I have a choice (personal flight vs business flight) I will fly out of Myrtle Beach over Wilmington. It isn't a bad drive down and the price difference makes it worth the time.
