Increase in stamp price goes into effect Monday

It is going to cost you more to use snail mail. Monday, the cost of a stamp goes up from 42 to 44 cents. Forever Stamps will still work, even if you bought them at the lower rate. The postal service estimates the increase will cost the average household three dollars per year. There may be a run on two-cent stamps, but it probably won't be enough to lick the postal service's budget shortfalls. So far this year, the post office is $2.3 billion in the hole.

Why does the Post Office still waste millions of dollars every year, delivering mail 6 days a week to residential neighborhoods. On average, I get mail maybe 3 days a week, and most of that is junk mail. Cut back mail delivery to every other day, and save a bunch of mail. The post offices should stay open daily, but quit wasting gas and time skipping past my mail box several times a week. It's the 21st century, we have e-mail, jpegs, online bill paying, and may other electronic documents that start making the post office a dinasour. Get with the program.

So, should the post officer

So, should the post officer just limit pickups and deliveries for residentials? Business send and receive numerous amounts of mail on a daily basis. Cutting back delivery/pickup to every other day will extremely hurt businesses. I have no problem cutting back routes to 5 days a week, but I don't think every other day is a good thing. Now, as far as the stamp increase, I have no problem with the increase as long as the services are going to be better. So far, every stamp increase has done nothing to help out with mail delivery. I still get other's mail from the two side streets around me, and they mine as well. It still can take up to 7 days to get a letter from family in Atlanta.
