Inspectors check for peanut butter products

The national salmonella scare has state inspectors doing spot checks to make sure recalled peanut butter products are off store shelves. Today we followed inspector Paula Odom during a spot inspection in Wilmington. Odom is a food and regulatory specialist with the North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. Handy Hugo's on Oleander Drive was nice enough to let us shadow Odom around the store. She was thorough, and the good news is she did not find any recalled products at this store or any store she inspected today. After a day full of inspections today in Wilmington, Paula will be back at it again tomorrow in order to make sure the store shelves in Wilmington are free of the recalled peanut butter products.
