Interstate 40 in Greensboro returns to old route

READ MORE:
GREENSBORO -- Interstate 40 in Greensboro is returning to its old ways. The News & Record of Greensboro reported Tuesday the state Transportation Department is changing signs for I-40 to go through its old route in Greensboro instead of on the newest stretch of the Greensboro Urban Loop. DOT's divisional engineer for the Greensboro area says excessive noise on the new western loop is one reason for the change. Mike Mills said another reason is that drivers and some emergency responders had trouble following the new route. The signs should be changed - again - before winter. The new section of the urban loop will be designated Interstate 73. (Copyright 2008 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.)

JEEZE! How on earth did people manage to get places before navigational systems became standard? How much DOT $$ to put up/take down signs 3 times in what, 6 months?!!?
