WILMINGTON -- Fire investigators are looking into what caused a late morning fire at a Wilmington recycling facility. The owner of Diversified Biomass and City Council member Jason Thompson thinks a customer wasn't obeying the "no smoking" rule at the facility. Biomass recycles organic and vegetative waste to turn it into a fuel source for electricity. Despite the cause, Thompson says he was impressed by the quick response and effectiveness of the firefighters on scene. Thompson said, "There's hundreds of acres of debris piled up being stored and dried for recycling really pleased to see the things i get to decide on and vote for as a council member get put into action." Thompson says approximately $50,000 worth of product was lost, but he's just glad no one was hurt.
