Detectives are investigating the death of a 25-year-old man, whose body was found in the woods behind the Creekwood community in Wilmington. This is the second homicide in the city this year. Investigators say Delvin McIntyre may have been running away from someone when he was shot in the back. He was found dead Wednesday morning in this wooded area behind the Creekwood community. At 25 years old, his family and friends say he was too young to die. "The devil is out to steal, kill and destroy. And he is after our youth, if he can't get in through us, he'll get in through children,” said Sharon Jenkins, a family friend. Crowds gathered around the crime scene, sobbing and looking for answers. Neighbors say they heard a gunshot, but didn't see anything unusual. Now, his family is just beginning to mourn the loss of their youngest son while wanting the person, or persons involved to pay for what they did. "I just feel pain right now, to see the mother and father, say goodbye, they didn't even get a chance to say goodbye to their son, its just heartbreaking,” Jenkins said. McIntyre had a lengthy criminal record ranging from the possession of heroin and marijuana, to assault charges. McIntyre lived on Manley Road, right around the corner from the Creekwood community. His mother and father immediately left the crime scene after the coroner picked up his body. Over night, shots were fired right around the corner from Creekwood. A twenty-year-old man was shot in the leg on his front porch. Residents we spoke with believe the two incidents may be related. Detectives are looking for information on who may have killed Delvin McIntyre. Anyone who knows anything is asked to call Wilmington police at 343-3600. Anonymous tips can also be made via Text-a-Tip. Text “tip 708” and the message to crimes (274637).

He didn't die innocent what

He didn't die innocent what you do in the dark come to light. Looks like he wasn't living right and looks like the wrong finally caught up to him.

WHEN U LIVE BY THE GUN U DIE

WHEN U LIVE BY THE GUN U DIE BY THE GUN..

It's sad whenever someone

It's sad whenever someone loses their life but this young man was someones son but he wasn't a victim he lived by the gun and died by the gun He terrorized many what you do in the dark finally comes to light you can't do unto others the Bible says eye for an eye tooth for a tooth sad but true his record spoke for itself no one is perfect but God.

Sad mother you may have a

Sad mother you may have a good heart but to blame his death on a gun is ridiculous. To that point you have been brainwashed. You could lay a loaded gun down anywhere 24/7/365 and it would not harm a fly. Only when some idiot gets his or her hands on it does it become a problem.I've owned a gun since I was seven years old and fourtunaly the only ones that I have shot in 53 years was while in the military. Containment

The Wilmington Police Department's strategy for these inner city pockets of criminal activity is one of containment. As long as it is confined within this criminal underworld, these thugs will take each other out. There are two different cultures in the city , as there are in any city. Civilized vs. uncivilized. Their value system is different than yours. They do not think about the future. They only think about what they are going to do in the next 24 hours. They do not value human life , they do not have a moral compass and they have no ambition to better themselves.Anarchy is rule of the day. The police department and the schools can not correct the ills of society. It begins at home and they have failed miserably! As long as it stays confined to these cesspools, let them weed each other out! Their community leaders need to step up an address the black on black crime. This vicious cycle will never end until then!

Bulldoze Creekwood

Creekwood should have been BULLDOZED 30 years ago. I grew up on Chestnut St. and that is where alot of criminals from Creekwood and other areas of Princess Place Drive did their Christmas shopping by breaking into the houses in that neighborhood. That whole area with it's abandoned houses should be torn down and the ones who can prove they are not involved with crime should be given fair market value for their property and the criminals should be kicked out with nothing. The City has gotten rid of Nesbit Courts, Houston Moore, and Jervey, and other problem areas now it's Creekwood's turn. Most of the lazy thug criminals living there should be banned from the City of WIlmington for life. They polute the area with drugs, violents, prostitution, and tons of other crimes that come with them. Let these animals live in the jungle where they belong thats good enough for them.

Agreed

I agree in totality. It's been proven over and over again that 70's style public housing projects are cesspools of crime and iniquity. Bulldoze it and we will be rid of the last real ghetto in Wilmington. It may not be politically correct, but there is a culture of death and violence in the lower-class African-American community that must be dealt with. Such a culture must be replaced by one based on education, hard-work, responsibility and reciprocal self-respect between people. Stop blaming everyone else for your problems and correct yourselves.

Prayer

I am praying for each and every person that has posted a comment! Who are we to judge anyone? God will be the one to judge...read the word! No matter what this young man did, he was someone's child! You love your children no matter what! I don't know this young man, but I love his parents and most of all love him very much! I'm truly sorry that this happened and as a mother of two boys I can only hope that my children know how much they mean to me no matter what! Mistakes will be made but that does not change love! The parents don't deserve to have to see all these terrible comments made by dumb people! If you are smart you will only pray for peace!

You read the word

"Ye shall know them by their fruits." God has given us the intellect to judge that Delvin produced a lot of rotten fruit. I, too, feel sorry that his family has to go through this, but even his family has to grasp the reality of what he chose to be, and how it led to his death. Until we ALL reject crime as a viable career choice and stop accepting and defending those who choose a criminal lifestyle, there will be a lot more Delvins. We need to judge them while they're alive and tell them, "You are no son (friend, husband, etc) of mine as long as you live the way you do." When they see everyone they care about desert them, they may realize that there's something terribly wrong with the way they're living. One other thing....we need to stop praying and waiting for God to save our children and start helping him out by shouldering the load of raising them right!

Free Market

Maybe if the all mighty dollar wasn't so important to america crime would go down.....

Either way you put it..He

Either way you put it..He didnt have to die like that and for you to go put up his next court date shows that you have nothing else to do with your time. His family is going through pain and all some of you can do is put negative things about him. R.I.P Dell

"The devil is out to steal,

"The devil is out to steal, kill and destroy. And he is after our youth, if he can't get in through us, he'll get in through children,” The devil can't steal, kill or destroy unless you allow him in. Everyone must stand up and take responsibility for themselves and their children. You teach by example. Not just inside the home but inside the community. If a child grows up seeing the local "thugs" they stand more of a chance of becoming one themselves. Stop sitting back waiting for the government to raise your children and stand up for them yourselves. If you believe in GOD, make sure your children do also. Not just by words but by action. Don't go to church on Sunday morning and then stand on the street corner Sunday night to sell your drugs. EVERYONE is entitled to a good life, but EVERYONE must work for it. Stop trying to get there off others hardwork. Working hard to EARN something, will make you appreciate it more. Nobody deserves to day the way this man did. Put when you choose a lifestyle, you choose all of it not just the parts you like.

WHY?

Why do something so wrong to someone so young that's just stupid becuase if it was someone in family you would be the same as snyone else saying how could they do this, why did you do this and come on now you are taking a life from an innocient person who is just like us tryin' to get around in this world not knowing whats gonna happen today or tomorrow.

Take back your area !!!!

Until the people that live in the Creekwood area take a stand and take back their area this will keep going on and on . If you have had enough it's time to " TAKE BACK YOUR AREA" They heard gun shots and thats not unusual? That is just SAD. You can all stand around sobbing and looking for answers all day long, but until you take a stand nothing is going to change..

crime and punishment

If you have a million criminals, chances are, with a lot of time, effort, and money, you might can change 5 of them. Once people are born bad, they're always bad. Therefore, the one and ONLY solution to crime is birth control. Thugs breed thugs, criminals breed criminals, poverty breeds poverty, mental problems breed mental problems. Place a birth control bus (similar to the blood mobile) on every corner of every neighborhood and highschool in the whole entire United States.Offer it for free. Give them a 3 year 5 year , lifetime, whatever it takes sort of birth control. Problem solved for our future generations.

Harshly put, but so very

Harshly put, but so very true. Unplanned pregnancy is the root of over 90% of all societys problems.

so i guess you think you at

so i guess you think you at the top of the food chain and a product of natural selection huh?

UNPLANNED

Get that? UN-PLANNED. If a person CHOOSES to have a child, thats different. But if we stopped all UNPLANNED and UNWANTED pregnancies, we would reduce this countries crime, poverty, drug abuse and child abuse by unknown numbers. If you want to have a baby, then we shouldn't stop you. Even if you are unprepared and unfit. Thats a battle that no one wants to fight. But you should AT LEAST CHOOSE to want that child, and not let it be an accident.

Murder

A gun shoot should be something unusual. What are you all that live in this community doing to fight crime in your area? Apparently NOTHING!!! It is so sad that you all allow this in your community. (I am afro-american as well.) Stand up for your community take it back... Report the person or persons that did this.. Stop allowing this mess into your neighborhoods. If you all like living like you all do then disregard this message as a matter of fact if you like it I love it.. I send my sympathy out to the family and pray that they will find comfort in the Lord everyday.

Sad but True

I was always taught Live by the Sword Die by the Sword. This should be a lesson for other young people that life is fragle. Prayers go out to the family.

KARMA

DELL WAS A GREAT PERSON. HE ALWAYS MADE US LAUGH. THROUGH EVERYTHING HE BEEN THROUGH HE CAME OUT A GREAT MAN, BUT SOMETHING WAS TROUBLING HIM TO THE POINT WHERE HE STARTED STRESSING....HIS TIME WAS GETTING SHORT, AND HIS MONEY WAS RUNNING LOW! IN THE TIME OF NEED HE HAD TO DO WHAT HE HAD TO DO. NOT SAYING ITS HIS FAULT BUT HE BROUGHT HIS DEATH UPON HIS-SELF....WHOEVER DONE THIS IM PRETTY SURE THEY WERE NOT IN THE RIGHT STATE OF MIND. OBVIOUSLY IT HAD TO BE SOMETHING DONE TO THEM FIRST.. AND AS FOR DUKE..YOU REALLY CANT SAY HE WAS IN THE WRONG PLACE AT THE WRONG TIME B/C HE WAS HOME, ITS JUST THAT AFTER DELVIN FINISHED DOING WHAT HE DID...HE WENT ABOUT HIS DAY.. COME ON PPL WERE KILLING OUR SELF: WHAT GOES AROUND; COMES AROUND!

You are so right and I think

You are so right and I think you know the truth Dell wasn't living righteous he decided to lived by and died by the gun. He was into things his parents and friends knew very well about it's sad but the devil stays busy and he wasn't praying when out robbing innocent victims you can't do unto others and expect to walk around like you God's saint???

Agree...

Agree...

Great person?????

I think we have a cultural disconnect here. I consider a great person to be someone who has accomplished great things. Racking up several felony convictions and doing time in two different prisons can HARDLY be considered "great." Fly with the crows, get shot with the crows. Dell simply fell victim to an occupational hazard of his CHOSEN lifestyle.

great person

EVERYBODY MAKES MISTAKES AND I'M SORRY FOR THE ONE WHO DIES FROM THEIR MISTAKES, SO U NEED TO HAVE A HEART AND STOP GOING LOOKING AT PEOPLE PASS BEFORE U PLACE A COMMENT, BECAUSE IF U HAVE ANY KIDS OF YOUR OWN U DO NOT KNOW WHAT THEY HAD DONE BEHIND YOUR BACK BUT GOD DO..... MY PRAYS WILL BE WITH THE FAMILY!

Okay, we have a deal

I'll get a heart and you see if you can round up a brain. I have two kids. One is a deputy sheriff, the other is a career military officer. How many times do you think they've been to prison? So let's go over this again - you live the life of a "gangsta," don't be surprised when you die like a gangsta. Questions?

Common,

Common, you get a heart, and I think I'm in love!!

I had a heart once....

At least, I think I did. (They're terribly debilitating to cold, hard logic, you know.) Plus, as my mentor Gabby Hayes would say, "One of you dagnab persnickity wimmin kept a-stomping on it."

Guess becuse that is normal

From the story: "Neighbors say they heard a gunshot, but didn't see anything unusual." They didn't see anything unusual because it is normal to hear gunshots in that neighborhood.

I guess you cant read

I know you are one of the many people who come to this website and spend the majority of your time looking to bash away, but this is a little bit of a stretch, no? "Neighbors say they heard a gunshot, but didn't see anything unusual." You HEAR with your ears, you SEE with your eyes.
