Investigators looking for killer in Creekwood murder

Sad mother you may have a good heart but to blame his death on a gun is ridiculous. To that point you have been brainwashed. You could lay a loaded gun down anywhere 24/7/365 and it would not harm a fly. Only when some idiot gets his or her hands on it does it become a problem.I've owned a gun since I was seven years old and fourtunaly the only ones that I have shot in 53 years was while in the military. The Wilmington Police Department's strategy for these inner city pockets of criminal activity is one of containment.As long as it is confined within this criminal underworld, these thugs will take each other out. There are two different cultures in the city , as there are in any city. Civilized vs. uncivilized. Their value system is different than yours. They do not think about the future. They only think about what they are going to do in the next 24 hours. They do not value human life , they do not have a moral compass and they have no ambition to better themselves.Anarchy is rule of the day. The police department and the schools can not correct the ills of society.It begins at home and they have failed miserably! As long as it stays confined to these cesspools, let them weed each other out! Their community leaders need to step up an address the black on black crime.This vicious cycle will never end until then!

Creekwood should have been BULLDOZED 30 years ago. I grew up on Chestnut St. and that is where alot of criminals from Creekwood and other areas of Princess Place Drive did their Christmas shopping by breaking into the houses in that neighborhood. That whole area with it's abandoned houses should be torn down and the ones who can prove they are not involved with crime should be given fair market value for their property and the criminals should be kicked out with nothing. The City has gotten rid of Nesbit Courts, Houston Moore, and Jervey, and other problem areas now it's Creekwood's turn. Most of the lazy thug criminals living there should be banned from the City of WIlmington for life. They polute the area with drugs, violents, prostitution, and tons of other crimes that come with them. Let these animals live in the jungle where they belong thats good enough for them.

I am praying for each and every person that has posted a comment! Who are we to judge anyone? God will be the one to judge...read the word! No matter what this young man did, he was someone's child! You love your children no matter what! I don't know this young man, but I love his parents and most of all love him very much! I'm truly sorry that this happened and as a mother of two boys I can only hope that my children know how much they mean to me no matter what! Mistakes will be made but that does not change love! The parents don't deserve to have to see all these terrible comments made by dumb people! If you are smart you will only pray for peace!

Either way you put it..He didnt have to die like that and for you to go put up his next court date shows that you have nothing else to do with your time. His family is going through pain and all some of you can do is put negative things about him. R.I.P Dell

The devil can't steal, kill or destroy unless you allow him in. Everyone must stand up and take responsibility for themselves and their children. You teach by example. Not just inside the home but inside the community. If a child grows up seeing the local "thugs" they stand more of a chance of becoming one themselves.

Stop sitting back waiting for the government to raise your children and stand up for them yourselves.
If you believe in GOD, make sure your children do also. Not just by words but by action. Don't go to church on Sunday morning and then stand on the street corner Sunday night to sell your drugs.
EVERYONE is entitled to a good life, but EVERYONE must work for it. Stop trying to get there off others hardwork. Working hard to EARN something, will make you appreciate it more.
Nobody deserves to day the way this man did. Put when you choose a lifestyle, you choose all of it not just the parts you like.

Why do something so wrong to someone so young that's just stupid becuase if it was someone in family you would be the same as snyone else saying how could they do this, why did you do this and come on now you are taking a life from an innocient person who is just like us tryin' to get around in this world not knowing whats gonna happen today or tomorrow.

Until the people that live in the Creekwood area take a stand and take back their area this will keep going on and on . If you have had enough it's time to " TAKE BACK YOUR AREA"

They heard gun shots and thats not unusual? That is just SAD. You can all stand around sobbing and looking for answers all day long, but until you take a stand nothing is going to change..

If you have a million criminals, chances are, with a lot of time,effort,and money, you might can change 5 of them. Once people are born bad, they're always bad. Therefore, the one and ONLY solution to crime is birth control. Thugs breed thugs, criminals breed criminals, poverty breeds poverty,mental problems breed mental problems. Place a birth control bus (similar to the blood mobile) on every corner of every neighborhood and highschool in the whole entire United States.Offer it for free. Give them a 3 year 5 year , lifetime, whatever it takes sort of birth control. Problem solved for our future generations.

A gun shoot should be something unusual. What are you all that live in this community doing to fight crime in your area? Apparently NOTHING!!! It is so sad that you all allow this in your community. (I am afro-american as well.) Stand up for your community take it back... Report the person or persons that did this.. Stop allowing this mess into your neighborhoods. If you all like living like you all do then disregard this message as a matter of fact if you like it I love it.. I send my sympathy out to the family and pray that they will find comfort in the Lord everyday.

I was always taught Live by the Sword Die by the Sword. This should be a lesson for other young people that life is fragle. Prayers go out to the family.

DELL WAS A GREAT PERSON. HE ALWAYS MADE US LAUGH. OBVIOUSLY IT HAD TO BE SOMETHING DONE TO THEM FIRST.. AND AS FOR DUKE..YOU REALLY CANT SAY HE WAS IN THE WRONG PLACE AT THE WRONG TIME B/C HE WAS HOME, ITS JUST THAT AFTER DELVIN FINISHED DOING WHAT HE DID...HE WENT ABOUT HIS DAY.. From the story: "Neighbors say they heard a gunshot, but didn't see anything unusual." They didn't see anything unusual because it is normal to hear gunshots in that neighborhood.

I don't really know Dell that well but I will say that no one should have went through what he had to go through. Now his family & friends are both hurting. I hate that when someones dies the first thing they do is throw dirt on there name. His past was his past and to type his past charges is just wrong. His family is in my prayers. The city of Wilmington has a serious crime issue within the inner city, whether elected officials would like to acknowledge it or not! Our news headlines confirm this observation.I am a locomotive engineer for CSX Railroad and our train traverses through some of the worst neighborhoods in the city late at night, enroute to the State Port Authority. We have seen shots fired into the air over the years , we were showered with beer bottles and rocks this past Saturday night, and we witness young men loitering along the street corners at 3 and 4 o'clock in the morning. You know they are not productive members of society. Anyone else would be in the bed or working at the time! Three weeks ago, some of Wilmington's finest citizens tampered with our train while we were trying to gain entry into the port. We called for police presence , while we coupled our train back together. We are grown men and we have concerns about our safety when events like this happen. I bet you NO elected official in the city would walk down these streets after dark ! I have a front row seat in witnessing these thugs roam our streets at night !
