Job fair focuses on veterans

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- A day after America took time to honor veterans, the Employment Security Commission held its third annual Employ a Vet Job Fair. Today's job fair was open to the public, but the ESC was focusing mainly on the veterans. It's part of Employ a Vet Month.

ESC's senior veteran representative Lois Smith, who is a veteran herself, says her heart is into the fair with a goal to help get veteran's a job.

Vets are thankful for the chance.

"It's an opportunity where others, I don't think they have that opportunity. It gives you an opportunity to explore other areas," veteran john Gberuoski said.

Fifteen employers showed up to the job fair to talk with vets today.

what a joke

I was at this "Job Fair" where there was not one available job that any company had. The representatives were not accepting resumes. There were two Community Colleges there showing information on classes. How exactly does this help unemployed vets like myself?
