WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- Unemployment rates are still high, and that's putting a damper on some UNCW seniors' spirits as they prepare to graduate.
Finding a job with some experience under your belt can be tough, but try getting a job with little to none.
"You're going out into a world of such uncertainty now," UNCW senior Grant Bunch said. "The past four years of I'm gonna have classes next semester, I'm gonna have this stuff to do, not knowing what's beyond May 8 is scary."
Nicole Doherty says it wasn't easy, but she managed to land a job through her internship.
Doherty starts her job just two days after graduation.
"You can't have everything you want," Doherty said. "While it would be fun to have a month to enjoy summer, I really need to start working. I'm happy to have a job so I can't complain about not having time off to enjoy being graduated."
Those who are job-less say they are open and flexible to any job that might come their way.
Friday marks the last day of finals for UNCW students, and graduation is right around the corner for seniors. Seniors on campus have different post-graduation plans. Some say they're going to back-pack through europe, while others simply want some time off after finals. Then there are those few who plan to apply to grad school and a few who are going to keep plugging away at getting a job in the real world.
