Despite 26 year high unemployment numbers, there is some good job news. There are industries still hiring ranging from health care to auto repair. According to experts, you can find a job in almost any industry that's a 'necessity.' Job placement specialist Matthew Thomas said the key is knowing where to look. "There are plenty of employers out there that are being very aggressive with their hiring program and don't let what you hear as far as the economy goes deter you from seeking out those jobs." The Dean of Technology and Vocational Education at Cape Fear Community College Bob Philpott agrees noting, "We get calls from people saying they need a truck driver so we have to expand our ability to train students but that's just one thing our welders are getting jobs I get a call once or twice a week for someone that knows how to do cad that's computer aided drafting." The health care industry is booming along with the power industry, law enforcement, and education. Think things that are necessities. If you're looking for a job, be flexible in your search and don't give up. Philpott added, "I'd say before they give up hope come and talk to somebody at the community college say this is kind of what I want to do is there anything you can do to help me? Is there any financial aid available or is there a free program available." There is some good new for the future, as new companies are coming to town in the spring creating around 100 new jobs.
