CHARLOTTE (AP) -- Michael Jordan is turning his attention to hiring a new coach before the NBA pre-draft camp starts next week in Orlando.
General manager Bernie Bickerstaff says the team would like to have chosen a coach by then.
And on the same day Toronto coach Sam Mitchell signed a new deal with the Raptors, Sam Vincent seemed to be moving up on the long list of Bobcats' candidates, partially because of his connections to Jordan. Jordan is part owner of the Bobcats.
Asked last night if the Bobcats had begun negotiating with Vincent, Bickerstaff played coy, saying the team wouldn't confirm or deny.
Vincent is a former teammate of Jordan in Chicago. He's never been an NBA head coach, but Jordan said earlier this year he was looking for a young coach in the mold of Avery Johnson. Vincent just finished his first season in Dallas as an assistant under Johnson.
