There was a big thank you to local the law enforcement Tuesday night. Justice in Motion hosted an appreciation dinner at the Hilton Riverside in downtown Wilmington. The goal is to celebrate the efforts of the men and women who keep our streets safe, especially when it comes to drunk driving. Barb Lynch organized the event. She said it is important to recognize the job done by law enforcement officers in our area. “We're appreciating everything that they do. We'd love to send the message to the people, in New Hanover and Brunswick County, to not drink and drive,” Lynch said. Wilmington Police Chief Ralph Evangelous said, “This is an opportunity for us to collaborate and to bring all of our efforts together and to get our public to understand that drinking and driving is not the right thing to do. If you're going to drink, don't drive.” About sixty members of law enforcement attended the event.
