There are no low performers in this week's Kitchen Cops report. But we have an update on a low performer we told you about last week.
On October 2 an inspector found a host of problems at the new Tangerine Caribbean Grill in Carolina Beach that earned the restaurant a 67. That meant an automatic suspension of the restaurant's permit. Four days later Kyle McKnight started as Tangerine's new executive chef and told us he would get it back on track. So far, he has. The health department tells us it reissued Tangerine's permit Friday, and McKnight says the restaurant reopened for business Saturday. The health department will be back soon to reinspect Tangerine and give it a new score.
Just one high performer in this week's kitchen cops report.
That high score belongs to A Southern Thyme on Fountain Drive in Wilmington, which lost half a point because shelving in the walk-in cooler needs to be cleaned. Add back two points for workers passing a food safety course and a score of 101.5.
