Kitchen Cops 2/25/10

READ MORE:

It's been a while, but the Kitchen Cops found a low performer in their most recent check of area restaurants. Meanwhile four area restaurants earned top marks.

That low score belongs to Tengu Hibachi Steak House at 5954 Carolina Beach Road. Three points off because dirty knives were stored with personal belongings, slicers and hibachi knives were dirty and clean dishes were stored on soiled shelving. Two more because day-old rice was stored too warm. Salmon was found on raw vegetables and was being cleaned at the dishwash sink. And the water was turned off at most of the sinks. A score of 85.5 for Tengu Hibachi Steak House.

This week's top score goes to Lockwood Folly Marketplace in Supply. The inspector said it was "Looking good." A perfect 100 plus two points for workers passing a food safety course.

The same score of 102 for Rucker John's in Monkey Junction.

Just a half point off for the Bento Box in the Forum, because everyone needs hair restraints. The bonus makes it 101.5.

And just a half point off at A Southern Thyme because of some storage issues and a score of 99.5.
