Health inspectors rated just one local restaurant this week on our Kitchen Cops low performer list.
Blimpies inside the Wal-Mart in Monkey Junction lost five points because both of the slicers were stored dirty, as were some containers, and there was no sanitizer in the three-compartment sink. Beef in the reach-in cooler was nearly two months past its use-by date, and turkey was two weeks past its expiration. And all employees who handle food must wear hair restraints. 83.5 for Blimpies in Monkey Junction.
Four local eateries have something to be proud of. They've made this week's Kitchen Cops high performers list.
Pass Your Plate off Eastwood Road in Wilmington leads the way with a perfect 100 plus two points for workers passing a food safety course.
The same top score of 102 at Sunset Gourmet in Sunset Beach, where the inspector says "Keep up the good work!"
Another 102 in Brunswick County at Papa John's on Holden Beach Road in Shallotte. The inspector said, "Great job!!!!!!"
And back to New Hanover County, where 17th Deli & More lost half a point because all employees who prepare, handle and serve food must wear an effective hair restraint. Add back the two point bonus for a 101.5.
